This session provides hands-on training for identifying and treating Sleep Breathing Disorders (SBD) and craniofacial pain. Participants will gain skills in CR assessment, CBCT interpretation, and JVA analysis, along with a deeper understanding of anatomical structures crucial for diagnosis and treatment planning.

A live patient exam demonstration will showcase practical clinical application, helping attendees confidently apply their knowledge in practice.

Attendees are encouraged to screen patients and bring their findings for discussion in the next session.

Day 2 of the TMJ & Sleep Therapy Center Mini Residency Program equips participants with practical skills for evaluating and managing patients with craniofacial pain and sleep disorders.

Clinicians will enhance their ability to evaluate sleep disorders and triage appropriate sleep appliance therapies. A thorough exploration of headache types provides crucial insights for effective management strategies.

This session also includes a detailed review of appliance selection and disc recapture techniques, along with an overview of pharmacology for sleep and pain management. In-person attendees will gain hands-on experience in palpation techniques, phonetic bite achievement, and appliance fitting for precise adjustments.

Session Overview

Day 3 of the TMJ & Sleep Therapy Center Mini Residency Program delves into the complex relationship between sleep disorders and TMJ pain, equipping clinicians with a deeper understanding of how sleep disruptions can contribute to or exacerbate temporomandibular joint discomfort.

Clinicians will gain insight into physical medicine modalities essential for supporting neuromuscular health and pain relief. A significant component of the session includes designing nutrition plans tailored to support recovery and optimal health for craniofacial pain patients.

Further training focuses on myofunctional therapies and Phase II considerations, as well as airway orthodontics, which are critical in managing airway and breathing-related issues in TMJ and sleep-disordered patients that need additional treatments.

Session Overview

Day 4 introduces Motor Nerve Reflex Testing (MNRT), a clinical protocol designed to help practitioners identify the true source of a patient’s pain or dysfunction by revealing the body’s survival-based injury priorities.

Unlike conventional diagnostic methods that focus on symptoms, MNRT communicates directly with the nervous system to uncover the root cause of dysfunction, giving clinicians a more accurate path to diagnosis and treatment.

This session emphasizes practical, reproducible application, helping attendees strengthen diagnostic accuracy, improve treatment confidence, and deliver more lasting results for patients with complex or unresolved conditions.
